Life After School

Hailey Lindberg

Hailey Lindberg

Wife, mother, teacher, friend: these are the roles I take each day as I try to live the christian life. Each day I strive to love the Lord and love my neighbor well so that others might smell the Bread of Life. Having an out of the box little boy helped me discover my love for all things Charlotte Mason. In some ways, Charlotte Mason is pointing me to my community, and each day I see more of "my people." In my limited free time, when I'm not discussing theology, apologetics, or pondering the deeper things of life, you're likely to find me reading, researching, or listening to a podcast.

We're All In This Together: Building and Growing In a Homeschool Community is Essential

Beth Harris

Beth Harris

The first years of homeschooling hold a special fondness in my memory. I was drawn to the beauty of Charlotte Mason's philosophy because she believed in educating the whole child. As my family grew I gained confidence in implementing Charlotte Mason’s methods to the various needs of my children. I have been homeschooling for 12 years now and I find joy in figuring out homeschooling through all the stages. In my spurts of spare time, I delight in exploring with my five children, hiking, gardening, reading, and making pies. I have helped lead a local Charlotte Mason co-op, and I currently serve on the board for the East Texas Amblers. I occasionally post on Instagram @Fleetwood Conservatory.

Ambling Through the Seasons: You CAN Homeschool Your Toddlers, Teens, and In-Betweens

Sarah Simmons

Sarah Simmons

Sarah Simmons is a currently-in-the-trenches homeschooling mom of five. Finding herself adrift in a sea of educational philosophies and methods, she was tossed a life preserver by the British educator and reformer whom we all know and love, Charlotte Mason. Sarah continues to try and work the wonders that are demanded of her while walking by faith. On the occasion she wanders from the kitchen, you will find her outside enjoying nature. She helps lead a local Charlotte Mason co-op and serves as a board member for the East Texas Amblers.

Standing in Wonder

Ruth Chandler

Ruth Chandler

In 2019, I was introduced to Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and methods of education. We transitioned from traditional curriculum to AO. I’ve never felt more secure that my three children are finally getting the education they deserve. I am on the board and Treasurer for East Texas Amblers. In my free time, I love to read books (especially historical fiction and nonfiction), go hiking with my family and friends, gardening, and learn all sorts of things I didn’t know before.

You CAN transition into AO

Lindsay Metzger

Lindsay Metzger

I was informed by my husband, then boyfriend, that any woman who married him would homeschool through high school.... Which is not at all an intimidating thing to tell the 18 year old girlfriend you've been dating for four weeks! But, I accepted his challenge twenty years ago and have been pushing my two boys to see the rich and beautiful things in life for the last twelve years. We indulge our love for all things Charlotte Mason with our own twists and turns to account for one ADHD monkey child and a highly verbal dysgraphic counterpart. In my out-of-the-mom moments, I serve on my church's Missions Leadership Team, head up our Deaf Interpretation Team, teach Continuing Education ASL for Kilgore College, and spend many an hour deep-diving in research on nutrition, hormonal health, and trauma. Nothing gives me greater joy than to learn, grow, teach and share. And almost nothing can get me to stop talking, once I've started!

A Mouthful of Marbles: Appreciating Plutarch

Sarah Clements

Sarah Clements

I am the lone female in a sea of testosterone with my husband and four boys in NETEX. My favorite things are teaching history, reading stories, crafting, and dabbling in homesteading projects. I was very blessed to have found Charlotte Mason’s method of education early on in my homeschool career.

Q&A with Sarah

Erin Lenzini

Erin Lenzini

Erin Lenzini is a lover of all things good, true, and beautiful, and seeks to bring those things to life in her home to the praise of Jesus’ glory. When she stumbled upon Charlotte Mason’s philosophy early on in parenthood, she was immediately drawn in by Charlotte’s high view of children, and has been imperfectly learning to implement her philosophy ever since. Her days are filled with learning alongside her three children, trying to convince her husband to get farm animals, thrifting home decor, and growing flowers, always with an iced coffee not too far away.

Gini Rothenberger

Gini Rothenberger

My name is Gini Rothenberger. I am an aspiring Charlotte Mason Momma of 4. I've been married to my husband for 12 years & we have 2 boys & 2 girls spanning ages 3 to 10. I've enjoyed using the groups forms on Ambleside Online for going on 4 years & I feel like I'm really starting to get a grasp of the atmosphere she encourages but I know I still have so much to learn. I really enjoy making time to study her book series and discussing it with other encouraging mothers.  When I'm not homeschooling or home making, you can find us on the River year round fishing, bowfishing, duck hunting, or just boat riding.

Stacy Stone

Stacy Stone

Stacy was inspired to homeschool after considering the thoughts presented in For The Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. She then practiced holding tightly to her Heavenly Father’s hand as she and her boys navigated their journey. Her greatest hope lies in the fruition of the seeds of God's Word planted along the way in each of their hearts. Her favorite subject became Nature and Stacy continues to explore the great outdoors through hiking and camping with her boys or East Texas TOWN (Texas Outdoor Women's Network).

Stephanie Speicher

I homeschooled two from 1999 to 2018. My daughters are in college now: one graduated Spring ‘23 from LeTourneau with Education Teaching Science (dual credit scholarship!); the other went to TJC for her Associates and Real Estate license. She is now pursuing accounting at UTT. With Ambleside I educated my girls. I loved the journey. And hope one day they appreciate the years. One did dual credit in high school. One landed in public school 8th thru graduation. I’m back to work after a very long hunt with the resume time gap. In 2022 I landed the accounting manager job for Norris Cylinder. We are a ballooning family with husband & daughter pilots and two hot air balloons. Come see us at the Longview Great Texas Balloon Race.
